Pharmacy Tech Apprenticeship

now-hiring.jpgThe term of the apprenticeship is one year with 2000 hours of on-the-job training and 160 hours of related instruction through Penn Foster online.

A pharmacy tech will, among other duties:

  • Select and/or prepare medications under direct supervision, as indicated on patient medication orders
  • Charge/credit patients for medications and IV solutions as appropriate.
  • Repackage bulk medications into unit of use packaging
  • Use automated dispensing technology or requisition to restock medications to nursing and ancillary areas and restock medications to areas without automated dispensing
  • Skills required of a candidate include good organizational, problem solving and computer skills, and good written and verbal communication skills. Candidates must pass an algebra exam as part of the recruitment process

Must be able to pass a background check compliant with the State of Alaska DHSS Barrier Crime Matrix.
