Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) is a care plan made for you by your surgeon and anesthesia provider. The ERAS care plan helps you prepare your body for surgery, recover quickly after your surgery and lowers your chances of having problems when you return home.

You and your hospital care team will work together to:

• Keep your hospital stay short                      
• Allow you to eat and drink sooner
• Keep your pain level under control               
• Achieve goals for a safe discharge
• Help you out of bed to sit and walk
