Juan Pablo (JP) Grimaldos, MD
Fairbanks Memorial Hospital
My medical career began in the South American country of Colombia. Growing up in Bogota, I saw a great need for doctors and quality medical care in the under-served communities of Colombia. As a traveling Family Practitioner, and the sole provider for many remote towns, I had the opportunity to serve those in need with a wide scope of practice. I was drawn to Anesthesiology because of the way in which it combines physiology and pharmacology with the clinical sciences. Anesthesiology also encompasses a wide spectrum of specialties and all patient populations. I hold a deep religious conviction that inspires me to live everyday striving to be the best version of myself and to love others without judgement.
Interests & Activities
When I'm not at the hospital, I love spending time with my wife, Gretchen, and our Belgian Shepherd "Kala" doing anything outdoors. We love mountain climbing, hiking, rock/ice climbing, mountain biking, camping and running. I also have a pilot license and enjoy flying around in my trusty, little Cessna 150 "Juliette." I have had the opportunity to organize and attend 16 medical missions to developing countries to provide cleft lip and palate surgeries for children who would otherwise not have the means to obtain these life-changing procedures. Our team has visited towns in Columbia, Peru, Belize, Ecuador and India.
