I view every day as an opportunity to learn, accomplish, or experience something new. This world has so much to experience and learn about, so I try to take advantage of every day. In about 6th or 7th grade I became interested in a career in the health science field. This interest was brought on by my fascination in learning about how the human body works and how diseases are treated. I decided to pursue a career in nursing, which eventually led to my discovery of the nurse anesthesia profession. I have taken a special interest in opioid-free and opioid-sparring anesthetic techniques, including the use of regional anesthesia. Whenever possible, I try to implement as many interventions as I can to avoid or minimize the detrimental effects of perioperative opioids, while also ensuring my patients are comfortable and their pain in under control. I want my patients to know that I will keep them safe and care for them as if they were family.
Interests & Activities
My fiancé and I are both very active. We like to spend a lot of time outdoors camping, hiking, and mountain biking. We have three high-energy dogs that keep us busy. We are excited to participate in some Alaska wintertime activities, including snowshoeing, skiing, and skijoring with our pups. Exercise is my primary form of maintaining personal wellness. I workout 4-6 times a week and try to follow a healthy diet. I find that taking care of my physical health and wellness helps me handle the stress associated with life and work.
