at Fairbanks Memorial HospitalProfile
Born and raised in the mountainous country of Nepal, Ms. Thapa feels at home living in the shadow of the Alaska Range, which includes the highest peak in North America. She joins the Porter Heart & Vascular Center (PHVC) at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital (FMH) as a nurse practitioner, saying she feels honored to be able to make a real difference in people’s lives by helping to alleviate pain and suffering. While working toward her master’s degree, Ms. Thapa was employed as a registered nurse in many settings, including medical/surgical, critical care, cardiology and emergency care. She feels privileged to serve this community and provide the heart health the patients here deserve regardless of their age, gender or color.
Interests & Activities
Away from her practice, Ms. Thapa enjoys spending time with her family. She and her husband of 17 years love to dance and listen to music together. Outdoors you can find them hiking, and a more recent hobby: fishing. Ms. Thapa eats a balanced diet and incorporates good sleep hygiene as ways to promote personal wellness. Between work, family and other responsibilities, it can be hard to make time for personal goals and dreams. However, she sets time aside specifically to “really live and enjoy my life.”
