COVID protocols update March 13, 2023
Foundation Health Partners on March 13, 2023, updated making requirements and visitation guidelines as the health system moves into the next phase of removing protocols that were put into place at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
MOST NOTABLE CHANGES:
• Optional masking in most outpatient clinics
• FMH is moving to Level Green visitation status
• Masking is optional in many areas of FMH
• Staff masking requirements vary by department
Look for internal and external signage at all locations for guidance on the protocols in place in a particular area.
Although masking is optional in many areas throughout FHP, it is still required in several locations, primarily those that provide care to patients who because of illness or injury are at high risk.
MASKING IS REQUIRED IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS:
- TVC 1st Care Clinic lobby (optional-but-encouraged within the clinic)
- J. Michael Carol Cancer Treatment Center
- FMH Porter Heart & Vascular Center & Cardiac Rehab lobby (optional within the clinic)
- FMH Radiation Oncology
- FMH Emergency Department
- FMH Infusion
- FMH Home Health & Hospice (within patient homes)
- FMH inpatient care areas (BH, 2S, 3W, ICU, NICU, PEDS, WIS)
- FMH Procedures
- FMH Respiratory Therapy
- Denali Center
- FHP Internal Medicine & Senior Health Clinic (required for staff, optional-but-encouraged for patients)
There are certain scenarios that will require masking by patients, visitors and/or employees even if in a ‘masking optional’ area.
SITUATIONS THAT REQUIRE MASKING:
- Masking is required for those experiencing symptoms of upper respiratory illness, including COVID, or have had a close household exposure.
- Masking is required if requested by a patient or a clinician.
- Masking is required where droplet precautions are required.
- Masking is required for employees who have a flu vaccine exemption.
- Masking is required if it is specifically indicated in an area.
