Daniel Kechker, DO
Location
Fairbanks Memorial Hospital
1650 Cowles Street
Specialty
Hospitalist/Critical Care
Profile
Dr. Kechker is hesitant to pin down a specialty, saying his goal is to ‘do a little bit of everything’ throughout his career. He does have special interest in procedural and pulmonary medicine, as well as critical care. He gained a great deal of critical care experience during residency, most of which came during COVID. Dr. Kechker enjoys the fast pace and the need to think on one’s feet involved with critical care. He finds satisfaction in treating some of the sickest patients and watching them get better.
Dr. Kechker believes the best patient experience comes from building a rapport with his patients through open and honest communication to foster a trustworthy relationship. He loves to talk with his patients, and not always just about medicine, but as a way to get to know them a little better.
Interests & Activities
Dr. Kechker describes himself as “outdoorsy” and lists camping, fishing, and hiking as his favorite activities to do outdoors. He spent a lot of time traveling with his grandmother while growing up. One of her favorite authors is Jack London, and she always had a certain romance with Alaska, which was also fostered in Dr. Kechker while he was young. He says between her instilling those thoughts in his head when he was younger, combined with his love for the outdoors, Alaska was at the top of his list of places to live.
