• Pop Up VACCINE CLINICS THIS WEEKEND: There are a series of pop up COVID vaccine clinics scheduled for this weekend. No appointment necessary.

  • JP Jones Community Center, Saturday, May 8, 1-5pm.
  • Ice Dogs Hockey at the Big Dipper, Saturday, May 8, 6-9pm. 

•  UNVACCINATED/HOSPITALIZATION RATES: According to the state’s COVID-19 Alaska Weekly Case Update for April 25-May 1, 98% of all patients who have been hospitalized due to COVID-19 infections have been unvaccinated.

• INTERIOR COVID-19 COMMUNITY ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION: Join educators, parents and leaders from across the Interior and community physicians for a conversation about COVID-19 and the expected FDA approval of the Pfizer vaccine for youth aged 12-15.  Learn with them and have your own questions answered too. Click here to register. The weekly COVID Roundtable Discussion is an ideal way to have any of your COVID-related questions answered by physicians. You can ask your question during the event, or you can submit them prior. (The flyer for this event is attached.)

• VACCINATION RATES: As of May 5, 51% of Alaskans aged 16 and older have received at least their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Juneau has the highest vaccination rate in the state at 70.2%, Fairbanks has one of the lowest at 40.4%. (In case you’re wondering, Mat-Su is last with 34.6% and Anchorage sits at 50.6%.)

• COMMUNITY VACCINATION CLINIC: The next community vaccination clinic at the Carlson Center is May 11. Make an appointment at COVIDvax.Alaska.gov or call 907-646-3322. Walk ins welcome.

• COVID TRANSMISSION RATES: The statewide transmission rate and daily case rates decreased slightly from last week. Case rates continue to rise in Fairbanks with decreases in most other regions of the state. Nearly twice as many Alaskans are hospitalized and on ventilators due to COVID-19 infections this week compared to last week.
  
  
  
• ALASKA IS #12: Alaska is currently the twelfth most vaccinated state per capita for adults 18+.
