FHP celebrates National Apprenticeship Week, recognizing apprentices from the surgery technologist, sterile processing technician and pharmacy technician program.
Foundation Health Partners (FHP) requires the right number of health care workers to meet service demand, with the right skills in the right place. When resources are limited and positions need to be filled, what do you do?
“There is a shortage of health care workers on a national and state level,” said Talent Development Coordinator Karen Lapp. “We are using apprenticeships and other paid training opportunities to build our own capacity to meet Fairbanks’ health care workforce needs.”

FHP Education invited leaders from the 354th Medical Operations Squadron (MDOS) at Eielson Air Force Base (EAFB) to observe the 2019 spring session in May. Shortly thereafter, FHP and Eielson officials signed a Memorandum of Agreement to share educational resources with one another.
FAIRBANKS- Foundation Health Partners (FHP) is a community owned and operated health system in a borough that is without a doubt a military community. It seems a natural fit for FHP to work with our military neighbors to promote a healthier and safer community. That was precisely the case during the fall session of the 2019 Farthest North Skills Fair at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital, which the FHP Education Department designed as one-stop-shop for skills assessment.

“It means the world to me that everyone would drop what they were doing to come help me and our children when we arrived. It’s a blessing that we have the care up here, and it was a blessing to be able to deliver my triplets here in Fairbanks.”
-Ashley Zartman

Fairbanks- The delivery of triplets is something that rarely takes place in the Fairbanks Memorial Hospital (FMH) Women & Infant Center (WIS). It is so uncommon of an occurrence that no current staff could recount the last delivery of triplets at FMH. That all changed in late March.
At 11:22 and 11:23 on the morning of March 25, Ashley Zartman and Jesse McKenzie II added Jesse III, Jaedan and Aniyah to their family that already included 15-month old Koree.
