Profile

Mirek Sochanski, MD is a board-certified interventional cardiologist with the Porter Heart & Vascular Center at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital. Inspired by the quality of medicine in the United States, Dr. Sochanski emigrated from Poland to the US in the 1980's, where he has practiced in cardiology since the early 1990's. He was drawn to the field of cardiology due to rapid developments with balloon angioplasty, stents, and other innovative methods used to save lives and improve the quality of a patients' life. 

While excited by new technologies, Dr. Sochanski believes in a conservative approach with patients, focusing on what can be done to relieve their symptoms and prolong their life. He is extremely thorough in making sure the treatment he recommends produces long-term positive outcomes.   

Interests & Activities

Away from his practice, Dr. Sochanski likes to break away for motorcycle trips, most recently in Chile and Argentina in late 2024. He also chases complete sun eclipses with his family, and tries to document them through photography.
