Profile
Dionne's passion for medicine has been a part of her since she was child. After stepping into the healthcare field, she began to understand the power of prevention in medicine. From there it became her goal to provide quality education to facilitate patient empowerment which can improve their quality of life.
Her fascination with pregnant woman began after watching the Cosby Show. After having her first child, and not having the best experience during her pregnancy and birth, Dionne knew that she wanted to be a part of the improvement of healthcare for women and their families. She believes one of the most crucial parts of the patient experience is taking time to listen to the patient. Dionne believes that active listening gives the patient the opportunity to open up and express their concerns, making them feel heard while allowing the opportunity for patient education with shared decision making.
To Dionne, working with FHP just feels like home. In fact, her medical career was started at FMH in 2004 when she helped to pilot the OB scrub tech position. She started her career as a CNA at FMH and is now proud to return as an OBGYN/Women's Health provider. It's life full circle!
Interests & Activities
When Dionne and her family arrived in Fairbanks in Nov. 2001 they simply fell in love with the environment. After leaving in 2007 they knew they would return after Dionne's husband retired from the Air Force. In 2021 they made their way back because Alaska is home!
Dionne truly enjoys any free time with her family. With her two older sons out of the house, and her daughter in high school, she loves anytime that all five of them are together. Summers are definitely spent saying "FISH ON" at any given moment, all over the state.
Personal wellness is very important, and Dionne has found that she has to practice what she preaches to her patients. Exercise, with an awesome playlist, provides her a chance to escape and reset. She enjoys running long distances and biking, and of course, fishing!
