PET-CT (Coming 2027)

PET-CT | Designed for Comfort. Built for Clarity.

Coming Mid-2027 to Fairbanks Imaging & Breast Center

Advanced imaging is coming closer to home. In mid-2027, Fairbanks Imaging & Breast Center will introduce Fairbanks' first PET-CT scanner!

Our new Siemens Biograph Trinion PET-CT combines advanced imaging technology with patient-focused features designed to deliver detailed images, efficient scans and a more comfortable experience. It's another way we're making it easier for patients to get the answers they need, close to home.

What Is PET-CT?

PET-CT combines two advanced imaging technologies into a single exam. Positron Emission Tomography (PET) shows how tissues and organs are functioning, while Computed Tomography (CT) provides detailed images of the body's anatomy.

Together, these technologies give providers a more complete picture of what's happening inside the body, helping guide diagnosis, treatment planning and ongoing care.

PET-CT is commonly used in cancer care to detect and evaluate disease and monitor treatment response. It can also be used to evaluate certain cardiac, neurological and inflammatory conditions, depending on the type of exam.

Advanced Technology. A Better Imaging Experience.

The Siemens Biograph Trinion PET-CT is designed to make your exam more comfortable while providing detailed, high-quality images.

  • More room, less anxiety. A spacious, flared scanner opening helps reduce feelings of claustrophobia.
  • A calming environment. Adjustable lighting lets patients choose a color to help create a more relaxing atmosphere.
  • Stay connected to your care team. A built-in camera and communication system allow technologists to monitor and speak with you during your scan.
  • Faster, personalized imaging. Advanced technology supports efficient scanning and radiation doses tailored to the exam.
  • Detailed images for clearer answers. High-resolution PET and CT imaging helps providers identify areas of concern and make informed care decisions.

Specialized Imaging. Closer to Home.

For patients throughout Interior Alaska, accessing specialized imaging can mean traveling outside the region, adding time, expense and stress to an already challenging experience.

Bringing PET-CT to Fairbanks means more patients will be able to receive this important imaging close to home, reducing the need to travel and making it easier to stay connected to family and support systems.
