The Department of Laboratory Medicine at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital is accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP). CAP is approved by the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) as a deeming authority: CAP requirements are deemed as equivalent to or more stringent than CMS’s regulatory requirements. CAP inspects a Laboratory in lieu of a CMS. Upon successful completion of an inspection, our laboratory is accredited and become part of an exclusive group of more than 7,000 laboratories worldwide that have met the highest standards of excellence.
