Fairbanks Memorial Hospital
Fourth Floor
1650 Cowles Street
The eldest of 13 children, Dr. Nora Quiason was born and raised in the Philippines, and grew up in a culture that put family and friends first. Inspiration for her behavioral health work came early on while earning her pre-med and doctorate degrees. She found it important to make a difference in the lives of others and found that with training, experience, evidence based treatment plans and lots of heart, her healing ability could change lives. She views her work as service rather than help because to her service allows each person to learn from the interaction. She is grateful and excited to be of service to the Fairbanks community.
The grounding presence that radiates from Dr. Quiason is something she contributes to her faith and practice of mediation. In addition to her medical practice and her family, she enjoys teaching meditation and facilitating Buddhist teaching in a Buddhist community in Kansas City. Dr. Quiason will be splitting her time between Kansas City and Fairbanks.
Dr. Quiason earned her undergraduate degree and Doctor of Medicine degree from Far Eastern University Institute of Arts & Sciences, Manila, Philippines.
Once she earned her degree, she had a desire to practice medicine in the United States. She became an intern at St. Clare’s Hospital in Schenectady, NY for a year and went on to complete her residency in general psychiatry and fellowship in child psychiatry at University of Missouri School of Medicine.
Dr. Quiason is a certified meditation instructor and is an ordained swami by the Temple of Kriya Yoga.
Dr. Quiason is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
