Fairbanks Memorial Hospital

From a young age, Dr. Flowers was interested in a medical career. Born in Pennsylvania, and raised in Africa, Dr. Flowers and her family lived in the countries of Kenya, Lesotho and Zimbabwe, all before she turned 16 years old. Her father, a bush pilot, brought medical supplies and food to refugee camps and missionary non-governmental organizations in Africa.
Her care for people brought her to Alaska as a volunteer in 1996. Dr. Flowers lived in Delta Junction for almost a decade, where she worked as a teacher and medical assistant. Her work caring for patients rekindled her interest to pursue general surgery as a specialty.
Dr. Flowers completed her General Surgery Residency at Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Her surgical areas of interest include treating breast cancer patients, as well as prevention and treatment of hernias. She has specific training in Oncoplastic surgery techniques, which compliments breast cancer treatment.
Away from the OR, Dr. Flowers enjoys spending time with her family, and you can find them out exploring Alaska. They enjoy hiking, biking, photography, and anything to do with the outdoors.
