Palliative Care
FMH Main Entrance
First Floor
1650 Cowles Street
Profile
Brenda Murphy is a board certified family nurse practitioner with over 10 years experience as an ICU nurse, helping patients navigate critical illness and six years in outpatient hospice, where she helped patients navigate end-of-life. The need for more palliative care practitioners in our community led her to pursue a nurse practitioner degree, and she feels incredibly lucky to now fill this role with Foundation Health Partners.
Ms. Murphy believes the practice of palliative care demands taking time to get to know patients and families holistically and without judgement. Having lived in the Fairbanks area for over 20 years, she understands the uniqueness of our community, and can always find something she and her patients can relate to together.
Interests & Activities
As a self-described 'city girl hailing from the Bronx, Ms. Murphy first came to Alaska in the 1990's to work on fishing boats out of Kodiak. Alaska has always felt like home to her, and the natural beauty of the state inspires her every day. Away from the hospital, you can find her gardening, hiking, skiing, river-running, or on a backcountry adventure. For personal wellness, Ms. Murphy likes to hit the trails with her two Australian shepherds to try and burn off some of their crazy energy!
