The Cancer Resource Center is a place for patients, caregivers, and family members to learn about the tools and resources available while working one-on-one with compassionate and dedicated American Cancer Society volunteers.

The American Cancer Society ACS Resource Room (CRC) at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital was opened April 3 2013. Since opening, the CRC has assisted numerous patients in a variety of ways.

Among the many programs and services offered within the CRC, our Road to Recovery program is one of the most commonly used. This program provides transportation to patients assisting in getting them to-and-from any type of cancer-related treatment during their cancer journey.

Additionally, our Patient Lodging program has been incredibly helpful to patients who are traveling a distance or simply need a place to stay that is closer to the treatment center which they are visiting. The Patient Lodging program is available to provide complimentary rooms to patients during their cancer journey.

We also offer Look Good Feel Better, a free class to help patients learn beauty techniques to address hair loss and skin and pigment changes during treatment. The CRC is also a place where patients can try on wigs, as patients are encouraged to browse through the many items that are have available to them, some of those items include: wigs, hats, scarves, pillows/other comfort items, as well as a library of educational and supportive material.

The CRC is staffed with volunteers who are available to meet with patients and visit the infusion and radiation treatment centers Monday - Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; however, the CRC is open to patients and their families at all times during clinic hours. Volunteers can also be available upon appointment.
