Survivorship

Cancer survivorship is a term that describes any individual living with, through, and beyond cancer. Cancer survivorship starts with cancer diagnosis and continues throughout one’s life.

Our survivorship program focuses on improving health and quality of life for cancer patients at all stages of the cancer care continuum. Clinical staff will assist survivors with tools and resources to maximize their emotional, physical and psychosocial well-being.

A Survivorship Care Plan may be generated by the oncology team to summarize the cancer diagnosis, treatments administered, and highlight long term effects that may be associated with the patient’s cancer or cancer treatment. This plan will be delivered to the patient’s primary care and other specialists involved in their care. Our clinical providers follow surveillance recommendations based on national cancer guidelines.

As an accredited entity, the J. Michael Carroll Cancer Center Survivorship Program adheres to recommendations as outlined by the Commission on Cancer and National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers.
