Dr. Cartagena De Jesus joins the pediatric team from her pediatric residency at the University of Arizona, where she had the opportunity to work with rural and under-served populations. She graduated from the University of Alaska Fairbanks with a Bachelor of Science degree followed by earning her Doctor of Medicine Degree from the University of Washington WWAMI Program.
At a young age, she was intrigued by medicine. Many of her family members were in medicine: her mother a medical assistant, her father in medical logistics and her grandmother was a nurse for over 30 years. Cartagena De Jesus was also exposed to medicine when family members were hospitalized, an experience that resonated with her.
She also has a passion for volunteering as she feels it is an extension of medicine because “you are giving yourself to the community in whatever way you can.”
