Foundation Health Partners hosts monthly Job Shadow days. These events allow individuals interested in shadowing to follow a healthcare professional in their career of choice for up to one full day. While we strive to make requested connections, placement in specific areas is not always available, and the length of time for the day is up to the provider. We also offer hands-on career exploration events for all ages throughout the year.

In addition to Job Shadow days, high school students are encouraged to apply for the Summer High School Internship Program (SHIP), a more intensive opportunity to experience healthcare - interns average 50-110 hours of healthcare experience and workSHIPS. These hours are a great start to a healthcare degree program application! Partnerships with the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District allow participants to earn an elective half credit.

Students applying for medical and physician assistant schools are welcome to attend the monthly job shadow events; however, these programs often look for a significant number of hours  and the impact of the experience.   FHP encourages employment and volunteer opportunities within the community to assist in building a standout application.
