Summer High School Internship Program (SHIP)

Summer 2027 applications will open March 1, 2027

Summer High School Internship Program

The Summer High School Internship Program (SHIP) at Foundation Health Partners is designed to foster early interest in healthcare by giving students meaningful, hands‑on exposure to clinical and operational environments. Internships offer a valuable opportunity to explore potential career paths, learn directly from professionals, and build skills and relationships that support future academic and career goals. An internship with Foundation Health Partners can also strengthen applications to healthcare degree programs, making SHIP a strong résumé builder for motivated students.

Interns are placed in one department for up to five weeks and may work up to 15 hours per week. They also have the option to participate in weekly exploration activities across a variety of areas within Foundation Health Partners, previous workshops have included the operating room, medical laboratory, and radiology.

Eligible students must be rising sophomores through current‑year graduates and must be in good standing at their school. SHIP is a highly competitive program. Interns are selected based on their interests, professionalism, and interview performance.  The application window opens in the spring and will be shared with local schools and the community.

2022 Intern Alejandro Benavides interned with IT and Public Relations and produced this video about the program:
